Major Update for Copilot+ PCs

In a significant move towards advancing AI capabilities on Windows devices, Microsoft has officially rolled out its much-discussed 'Recall' feature, alongside new AI-driven experiences for Copilot+ PCs. This update marks a major step in delivering on the company's vision of creating the fastest, smartest, and most secure Windows PCs to date.

New AI Features Announced

Following months of delays and privacy-related scrutiny, Microsoft announced on Friday the availability of Recall, Click To Do, and an enhanced Windows Search experience for select Windows 11 devices.

"Windows has always been the platform where innovation begins. This tradition continues with the general availability of AI-exclusive experiences like Recall (preview), Click To Do (preview), and an improved Windows Search, available across Copilot+ PCs," stated Navjot Virk, Corporate Vice President of Windows Experiences.

Device Compatibility and Limitations

These new features are compatible with Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD processors. However, it is important to note that the text action functionality within Click To Do is currently exclusive to Snapdragon-based Copilot+ PCs.

The Rise of Copilot+ PCs

Originally unveiled in May 2024, the Copilot+ PC lineup was introduced as Microsoft's answer to creating the "fastest, most intelligent, and most secure" Windows machines ever. As of January 2025, Copilot+ PCs accounted for 15% of all premium PC purchases. Initially priced at a starting point of $999, the range is now available from $599. The Copilot+ portfolio includes models powered by leading chipsets from Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD.

Performance and Battery Life Claims

According to Microsoft, Copilot+ PCs deliver 13% better performance compared to Apple's latest MacBook Air M4, offer up to five times the speed of five-year-old Windows PCs, and set a new benchmark for battery efficiency, achieving up to 22 hours of video playback or 15 hours of continuous web browsing on a single charge.

Availability and Regional Rollout

Owners of Copilot+ PCs can now install the latest Windows 11 build — the April 2025 Windows non-security preview update — to gain early access to Recall and Click To Do, both still in the preview stage. However, users in Europe will need to wait a few additional months before these features become available in their region.

Feature Overview

Recall is an opt-in tool that captures snapshots of user activity, allowing individuals to easily revisit previous tasks and activities. Meanwhile, Click To Do introduces AI-assisted writing capabilities, enabling users to summarize content, correct spelling and grammar, rewrite text, and even remove objects from images. Additionally, the updated Windows Search functionality brings improved contextual search, making it easier to locate files stored across the PC.

Conclusion

With these updates, Microsoft continues to push the boundaries of AI integration within its Windows ecosystem, setting new standards for productivity, performance, and user experience in the PC market.
